“The Serengeti does not perform. It simply continues, and a camp like this puts you inside it.”
The central Serengeti is the park's dependable core. Water in the Seronera valley holds game year-round, which means resident lion prides, leopard in the riverine trees and cheetah on the open grass regardless of where the migration happens to be. For a short itinerary, it is the most reliable place to spend Serengeti nights.
Land of Nature is an unfenced tented camp: canvas suites on raised platforms, four-poster beds under netting, en-suite bathrooms and private verandas facing the plains. Evenings begin at the fire and end early, because mornings begin in the dark. Wildlife walks through camp — that is the arrangement, and it is why people come.
Dust on your boots, a drink at the fire, and the last of the light going flat and orange across the grass. Someone points; a hyena crosses fifty metres out and keeps walking. Dinner is under canvas, conversation is about what everyone saw, and by nine the camp is quiet because five o'clock comes quickly.
